Revenge of the Slitheen sees the return of everybody’s favourite farting alien family — the Slitheen, whose plan for revenge for the events of Aliens of London / World War Three, involves a lot of building work!
In addition to the obligatory farting, there’s plenty of unzipping of foreheads in Part One to remind you of why the Slitheen were so memorable in the first place and while the lower budget might not stretch to CGI Slitheen running around, we do get to see a child Slitheen costume this time.
“I was wrong: it is aliens.”
Sarah Jane, Revenge of the Slitheen, Part Two
It’s the first day of a new school for Maria as well as being the first day ever at school for Luke. Completing the trio of newbies is Clyde Langer, who quickly becomes the third member of Sarah Jane’s teenage gang of investigators. It’s a good thing too, for Clyde is an instantly likeable addition to the team, so much so that you ignore the fact that the show completely forgets to mention Kelsey Hooper. (Let’s be charitable and say that she moved away over the summer.)
The three quickly latch on to the fact that something’s wrong with the school, some of its teachers and specifically the new technology building and, with Sarah Jane investigating the company that built it (and many others), it’s not long before they uncover the Slitheen’s plot to destroy the world!
Perhaps not quite as good as Invasion of the Bane, but still a lot of fun, Revenge of the Slitheen kicks off the first series proper of The Sarah Jane Adventures with a bang — well, a fart at least.
