Death to the Daleks aside, I’ve really enjoyed this season (and, to be fair, even the trip to Exxilon had its moments).
We’ve had Sontarans and Ice Warriors, giant spiders and dinosaurs taking in the form of an invasion (of sorts), a pseudo-historical and political allegory.
“Gallifrey. I am a Time Lord.”
The Doctor, The Time Warrior:
Part Two
We’ve learned the name of the Doctor’s home planet and also a new way of describing what happens when the Doctor’s appearance changes – regeneration.
The only thing we were denied was a final epic tussle with the Master and even that was planned before before Roger Delgado’s sad and untimely death.
The Third Doctor is at his mellowest and Sarah Jane is an instant hit, combining the best qualities of Liz and Jo and being a distinctive foil to this most stylish of Doctors.
All in all, the eleventh season is yet another solid set of Doctor Who adventures and a fitting way to end the Third Doctor’s consistent run.
And did I mention there were dinosaurs?
"My favourite Third Doctor stories are season finales:
The Dæmons, The Time Monster, The Green Death and Planet of the Spiders."
"My least favourite Third Doctor story is Spearhead from Space."
