In The Curse of Fatal Death, Steven Moffat shows us he never could resist his love of everything wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey, what with all the shenanigans on Terserus with the Doctor and Master trying to outdo each other on who could bribe the architect first!
“I have grown weary of all the evil in the cosmos. All the cruelty, all the suffering, all those endless gravel quarries.”
The Doctor, The Curse of Fatal Death, Part One
I’ve always thought Rowan Atkinson would’ve made a good Doctor and even here, in a comedy skit for charity with fart jokes, he appears to have taken it all relatively seriously.
At the very least I’d describe him as understated when compared to Jonathan Pryce, who is wonderful at the arched eyebrow camp of the Master, attempting to wreak his “deadly vengeance of deadly revenge”.
There’s lot of in-jokes and plenty of fun to be had in The Curse of Fatal Death, although it’s possibly a good thing the Moff bowed out before the Thirteenth Doctor’s arrival.
On the evidence of this he wouldn’t be able to stop himself making jokes about boobs.
